Fading Away…Mayfield House & The First Planned Town in Ireland

Portlaw is a historic settlement in Co.Waterford, Ireland. It was the first planned town in the country and at one time it even had its own currency! Mayfield House dates from the 18th century and stands in ruin next to an abandoned factory (tannery). In the 19th century, it underwent alterations and became a more Italianate looking structure. Hopefully this beautiful house can be restored in the future…
