Mary Lou McDonald apologises to teen in Ó Donnghaile text scandal, corrects Dáil record on age

“I have now written to the young person and his mother offering a full, unequivocal and sincere apology” Mary Lou McDonald apologises in the Dáil to the teenager who received inappropriate messages from ex-Sinn Féin senator Niall Ó Donnghaile and corrected her previous statement on their age. Niall Ó Donnghaile sent the messages in September 2023 prompting a complaint to the party and a reference to the PSNI, who found no offence occurred. Mary Lou McDonald previously told the Dáil that Sinn Féin knew Mr Ó Donnghaile would resign from the party after a meeting on October 5th 2023. Credit to : Newstalk
