The lives of Dan Breen and Sean Treacy

Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. A documentary looking at the lives of Dan Breen and Sean Treacy, who kick started the Irish War of Independence along with Seamus Robinson and Sean Hogan.. Part 1 looks at 1916, the hunger strikes in Mountjoy and Dundalk gaols, the Soloheadbeg ambush, the formation of the Third Tipperary brigade and the daring rescue of Sean Hogan at Knocklong as well as the impact their actions had on a national stage. Featuring relatives of Sean Treacy, Kathleen Allis-Cleary, Sinéad Allis, local and national historian John Hassett, Liz Gillis and Darren Kelly co-author of “When The Clock Struck in 1916”, Councillor Rory Kennedy, relatives of Brigid and Aine Malone, Ailbhe Costello, Niamh Murphy and Nuala Coffey. Thank you to all the rare photographs donated from Terry Fagan, Clare Cowley and other 1916 relatives.
