Famine and Shipwreck
Famine and Shipwreck: An Irish Odyssey is a documentary feature that combines dramatic recreations with testimonies from descendants, historian interviews and archives to tell the dramatic story of the ship Hannah. In 1849, the Hannah, with 180 emigrants on board fleeing Ireland’s potato famine, hit an ice reef off the coast of Newfoundland. The captain took the only lifeboat, leaving the passengers to drown and freeze to death.
