Andy Ngo: A warning to the Irish about free speech lessons from Portland, Ore.
On June 18, 2024, I spoke at the Dublin Free Speech Summit at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland about how Portland, Ore. can be a warning to the Irish if they continue to move forward in normalizing censorship. The panel was shared by American journalist Michael Shellenberger and others.
The center-left government has been debating a bill that would increase penalties for “hate speech” and would empower law enforcement to seize devices that are suspected of containing “hateful” material.
