‘Any seat will do me’ – Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch confirms General Election run

Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch has confirmed he plans to register as a candidate in the General Election. Speaking to reporters at Dublin Airport arrivals, he said he said he was ‘100%’ running for election, adding: “Without a doubt”. Speaking to The Irish Mirror, he said he did not know whose seat his plans were likely to put at risk. “Any seat will do me,” he said. “I’m not pushed.” Asked what policies he will be running with he said: “I don’t think it is the appropriate place here to talk about them.” Asked about his recent arrest in Spain, he said he was not worried about the case impacting on his ability to serve the people. Hutch was released from police custody in Lanzarote after being arrested on charges related to money laundering. He was released on €100,000 bail. If he does put his name forward for the general election, Labour Senator Marie Sherlock will be running against him in Dublin Central. Speaking to Newstalk, she said Dublin Central is “going to be the place to be” during the campaign. “We have a very eclectic line up, so I think there’ll be a lot of spice in the contest,” she said. Senator Sherlock urged whoever “wants to put themselves forward” to “bring it on”. Credit to : Newstalk
