Dáil suspended after comments on DPP decision regarding Nkencho Case
The Ceann Cohairle suspended the Dáil after Mick Barry TD’s comments regarding the Director of Public Prosecutions announcement that they won’t be prosecuting a member of the Gardaí who shot and killed George Nkencho outside his family home in December 2020.
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) confirmed the criminal investigation it carried out ended in June last year.
It forwarded an investigative file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) following the completion of “an independent criminal investigation” into the death of Mr Nkencho.
Mr Nkencho was shot dead in the front garden of his family home in Clonee after an alleged assault with a kitchen knife in a shop.
