Father Trendy delivers a sermon on the merits of the pint..

Dermot Morgan as his character Father Trendy seated in the studio audience interrupts Mike Murphy to talk about the merits of a pint.

This is a sermon on the pint.

According to Father Trendy, pints have a spiritual quality.

Some men drink religiously.

For Father Trendy, the pint is something we should strive to be like – not too big headed. He believes that our religion is like a pint, something we should have for ourselves, hold on to, and not something to be thrown up.

Let Christianity refresh the parts other religions don’t touch.

This episode of ‘The Live Mike’ was broadcast on 4 March 1983.

‘The Live Mike’ was presented by Mike Murphy and ran on RTÉ between 1979 and 1983. The programme combined music, comedy sketches and studio guests.
