Ireland’s Housing Crisis
Ireland’s current housing and homeless crisis is nothing new. Looking back to the 1980’s for comparison, landlord greed, lack of decent available rental properties, council apathy and empty government promises caused misery for many. In 2025, nothing has changed. Despite Ireland’s “prosperity,” homelessness is at record levels and many young people are leaving the country as renting a decent place or home ownership is well outside their reach and looks like it will be for some time.
