Irish leaders have contributed to ‘hatred against Jews’, says Chief Rabbi | LBC

Following the announcement of the closure of the Israeli embassy in Dublin, Iain Dale is joined by lawyer Alan Shatter to discuss the Chief Rabbi, Yoni Wieder, claim that Irish leaders have contributed to hatred against Jews. This comes as foreign minister Gideon Saar accuses the country of “crossing every red line”, blaming “the extreme anti-Israel policies of the Irish government”. His statement said Israel’s ambassador to Dublin has been recalled in the past following what it called Ireland’s “unilateral decision to recognise a Palestinian state”. It added that the decision followed Ireland’s announcement of its support for South Africa’s legal action against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing the country of “genocide”. Ireland’s Chief Rabbi Yoni Wieder told The Telegraph that “many of the 3,000 Jews in Ireland no longer feel safe enough to wear symbols of their identity”. Ireland’s President Michael D. Higgins has dismissed Israeli’s accusations of ingrained antisemitism in Ireland as “deep slander”.
