A European court recently ruled that Ireland was due a €13 billion windfall from Apple after it found the company was given preferential treatment by the Irish state in regards to tax which allowed it to pay next to no corporation tax over 10 years. As part of JOE.ie’s Irish election coverage, we sat down with some prominent figures in Irish politics, and asked members of the then-Irish government why the state used taxpayer money to appeal the ruling and effectively avoid receiving the windfall.
