Livestream 5PM: John Waters & Gerry O’Neill discuss Varadkar’s sudden resignation
As predicted 2024 keeps rolling out the hits. Today, John Waters and I discuss Taoiseach Varadkar’s resignation announcement and retirement from political life. The timing comes hot on the heels of his recent state visit the United States and his controversial attempt to pressure Biden on Gaza. Varadkar’s departure brings to least 11 sitting Fine Gael TDs who are not seeking re-election. This amounts to 1/3 of the current FG parliamentary party which numbers 33 TD’s. The Taoiseach cited both political and personal reasons as reasons for this sudden departure. I will be getting into all of the above with John this at 5pm with John.
