Locals Fear for Welfare of Asylum-Seekers Living in Isolated Former Pub October 13, 2024 Admin Migrant Crisis </p> <h2>Locals fear for welfare of asylum-seekers living in isolated former pub</h2> <p> About 20 international protection applicants are staying at a former pub in Co Meath, but locals fear the new arrivals are living an isolated existence.<br /> The operator of the site at Collegelands Forge, near Summerhill is being paid about €65,000 per month by the Department of Integration to house them for a year– so around €750,000.<br /> Complaints made to gardaí and the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC) have centred on concerns for the asylum-seekers.<br /> A garda complaint in July related to alleged violence and drug dealing at the site.
