Scholar Gypsies – Noreen O’Shea and Newbridge Says No.
This week I took a trip to Newbridge in Co. Kildare to check out a group protesting against the opening of a new asylum centre in their town. On Tuesday evening Newbridge Says No were gathered outside The Gables the proposed site of this latest monument to Ireland’s new mass immigration policies.
After my article on Sallins last week a number of people got in touch with me to report that Newbridge had a strong group of local people meeting regularly outside The Gables. On the night I arrived approximately 65-70 people were huddled together to protest. This number was down from the 350-400 people who met a few days earlier. The reason for the difference?
Knocking on doors.
People often believe a single show of support will suffice in this fight against Ireland’s mass immigration policies. Well, this is especially not true regarding the mass importation of people entering the country via the international protection route. In this short interview with Noreen O’Shea she explains what’s going on in Newbridge and is looking for people help her to knock on some doors.
